Refugees at Home
Refugees at Home has contacted us about two refugees who have places at Swansea University and are looking for hosts. If you want further information you should contact Refugees at Home directly. If you go ahead the arrangement will be between you and the student/s. They both have refugee status.
‘A’ has recently moved to Swansea to start a pre-sessional course at Swansea University. He is looking for a host from 17th Aug – 23rd Sept when his student finance comes through and he moves into student accommodation. He is recognised by friends and teachers as positive, determined and always willing to help those around him! He is referred by RefuAid who wholly focus on getting refugees into colleges and qualifications.
‘N’ has a place in Swansea to do a PhD in Maths. He is Syrian. He has had status for 5 years. He has previously been hosted, firstly in Surrey and then in in Poole. Both hosts would give him a good reference as a guest. He really needs a term to find his feet but even a month would help.
Do you have a room to spare? Could you offer shelter for a short time for an asylum seeker who has been refused, and finds themselves completely destitute – no home, no money and not allowed to work. Or maybe you could help refugee students for a short time.
Share Tawe offers accommodation and support to asylum seekers who have become destitute whilst claiming asylum.
Hosts provide asylum seekers with a room in their home for short or long periods. Share Tawe currently know of number of asylum seekers who are destitute with nowhere to stay so we have an immediate need for more hosts
Further information about how the scheme works and other ways people can help is below. Share Tawe can organise workshops for groups of people who are interested.
Please contact Marilyn Thomas [email protected] 07848 026247 if you would like to offer a room, help Share Tawe in other ways or find out more.Share tawe Info
